Your rates bill has two parts – the regional rate and the district rate. The regional rate is struck by Central Government and Strabane District Council sets the district rate.
The regional rate is set by Central Government and provides funding for education, housing, health and roads. Central Government has confirmed that the regional rate will increase in line with inflation in 2011/2012
Strabane District Council struck the district rate for 2011/2012 on 14 February 2011. The new domestic district rate will be a decrease of 1.79%
The council have issued a press release explaining how the rates have been decided.
